In Turkey, hoteliers put up for sale about 1,3 thousands of hotels on the coast of the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean because of the deteriorating security situation in the country and the crisis in relations with Russia. This RIA Novosti reports referring to the newspaper Zaman. The aggregate value of these hotels is estimated at about 30 billion Turkish lira (10 billion dollars), their capacity – 153 thousand people. Most hotels put up for sale in Antalya, most focused on the Russian market. That’s about 410 hotels, of which almost a quarter of five-star. The publication notes that the tourism industry of the country is currently experiencing one of their worst crises. The reason for the sale of hotels in the newspaper calls the economic difficulties, reduction in the number of tourists from European countries, as well as hoteliers debts to banks. “Many hotel owners took the money in the debt, and then could not pay them after the deterioration of the situation. In addition, even with the Russian Federation and the crisis forced many hoteliers to sell the hotels, “- said realtor Ismail Ozer. According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, the number of Russian tourists visiting the country in 2015 decreased compared to the year 2014 by 18.6 percent and amounted to 3.65 million. Nov. 28, 2015, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on sanctions against the Republic of Turkey. This happened after the November 24th Turkish aircraft was hit by a Russian bomber Su-24, involved in anti-terrorist operations in Syria. The document establishes the visa regime from January 1, 2016 and prohibits charter flights between the two countries. The decree also introduces a ban or restriction on the import of certain types of Russian Turkish goods. In addition, Russian tour operators encouraged to refrain from selling tours to the country.
